What’s next…A New Chapter

Hello!

It has been exactly one year since I last wrote a personal update. Coincidentally, my master’s program was an advanced, one-year track… makes sense. Lol.

Life has been full of changes behind the scenes. If you've been following for a while, then you know that the last several years have been filled with long lecture days, late-night studying, and more cups of cold brew coffee than I'd like to admit. Side note: I am not biased towards coffee and will take it anyway it’s offered. 😉

Today I'm excited to officially announce that I have finally completed my master of Social Work degree and I'm licensed to begin my professional career as a social worker as an LMSW; even writing and speaking those words feels surreal!

At the same time, it's never felt more real because it's finally the “Finish line”, at least in my eyes. Although last year I was excited to graduate with my bachelor's degree, it didn't feel like it was the end because it wasn't… I knew I was going to keep going for my Master’s degree, and THAT would be the real finale.  Now that I'm officially done with my educational journey, it has been sinking in. Woohoo to 20 years of classes (counting kindergarten until now). That might sound sarcastic, but I mean it with all of my heart. I truly know how much of a privilege education, specifically higher education, is.

What makes this milestone even more meaningful is that it represents so much more than earning degrees or passing an exam. It really represents resilience, perseverance, and the belief that small, consistent steps eventually lead somewhere beautiful. One of my favorite quotes that my cousin shared with me is, “The hardest climbs have the best views”. Since this milestone, my college experience, took eight whole years to complete, I really do consider myself to willingly be on the “path less traveled” as MODSUN would say.

Many of you also know that I'm a childhood cancer survivor. More than a decade ago, my life looked very different from what it does today. Experiencing adversity at a young age shaped the way I see the world and ultimately inspired my desire to help others navigate their own challenges with compassion, hope, and strength.  It wouldn't be right to celebrate this accomplishment without acknowledging all the support I've had along the way, specifically from local cancer organizations that have funded my scholarships to complete my higher education pursuit. Shout out to Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation and My Hometown Heroes, which are both local nonprofits supporting cancer fighters and survivors, both of which started here in Reno, Nevada..

As I begin my career in social work, I carry those experiences and memories with me, truly, every day. Because how could I not?

At the same time, I'm continuing to grow something that is deeply personal to me, Blissfully Britt.  What started as a simple space to share mindfulness, wellness, and everyday moments has evolved into a vision for something much bigger. Over the coming months, you'll begin to see Blissfully Britt expand beyond a blog and into mentorship opportunities, wellness resources, community events, and meaningful collaborations throughout Northern Nevada and beyond.

My Hope has always been to create a space where people feel encouraged, supported, and inspired to build a life that feels authentic to them without fear of judgment, even from themselves. Blissfully Britt is a place that offers permission: permission to Be and permission to Do; however, that resonates with you.

Whether you have been here since the beginning or you're just finding this community now, thank you for being part of the journey.

This year feels different. not because everything is figured out, but because I finally feel ready to step into the life I've been building toward fully.

Here's to new beginnings, continued growth, and creating a life filled with purpose, connection, and joy.

 Welcome to the next chapter.

 With gratitude, love, and bliss,

 Britt
